The "Young" Cricketers
Dan Coomer
Right Hand
Slogger / Right Arm Medium-fast
Dan or "Frenchy"
as he is sometimes known, due to his fondness of sticking his tongue
out, is another of the youngsters who seem to have grown up at the
club. The drinking partner of Sean Topping Morris, Dan is a good player
of quicker bowling and a good timer of the ball off his legs. Also one
of the better players of bad bowling in the club and contributed a score
in the 90's against Usk 3rds last season with all bar 4 of the runs
being scored on the leg side. As a bowler Dan sticks rigidly to the
principles of line & length i.e. any line and short of length.

One legged Wicketkeeper
Stewie is a man
that likes to have a moan. Moans that the ball has been thrown at his
feet, moans at the shot an opposition batsman has played, moans at the
TV when watching anything sporting, moans at the speed the ball is
passed back to him, you get the idea. His mood is easy to spot to the
trained eye; when unhappy his arms will be seen outstretched either side
of him, when happy he is generally throwing air punches in the direction
of an unsuspecting victim. Despite all this he is one of the most
popular members of the club due to his easy going nature & mood swings!
For Christmas 2005, H received IKEA vouchers with which he bought a
Cricket Bat and some laminate flooring and although there is still
some doubt he now thinks he knows which is which. Unfortunately, Stewie
injured ligaments in his knee last summer and, despite a few
recommendations that he should be shot, will be operated on this
year. We wish him a speedy recovery and every success in his new
career as 2nd team Umpire.
Dan Bennett

Dan joined
Pentyrch in 2004 as an elegant stroke player and terrible bowler. This
posh lad from Swansea quickly settled into the club thanks to his down
to earth nature and being friends with a psych (see Hywel John.) Dan is
engaged to be married to his sweetheart, Lorna, and had to miss a whole
load of Saturdays last season as they were trying on churches for their
big day. Dan's highlight last season was against Chepstow 3rds where he
massacred them for a couple of overs before getting bored and chipped
one straight to a fielder. However he has been a regular 2nd
team member in the past and has a 1st team 50 under his belt
so no doubt will be looking to re- establish himself on a Saturday now
that he’s found a church that fits.
Andrew Roberts
Elegant Right
Hand Bat
Andy learned his
cricket at Pentyrch whilst watching his father & brother represent the
club throughout the 90s'. Andy is a batsman of impeccable technique and
no little nerve regularly walking out as the First Team opener with
nothing more than his cap and glasses. One of the most unlucky players
in the club, Andy never seems to get that Kodak moment; be it a catch in
the outfield where he has covered 45 yards and dived full length, the
ball will slip through his fingers, or as a batsman who plays every shot
in the book and picks out the fielders with exquisite timing and ease.
He consoles himself with the thought that nobody else would have got
near the catch and if he's hitting the fielders there can't be much
wrong with his technique. Currently in University, we hope to him in
the club for at least the second half of the summer.
