MONKS
ON TOUR
Every
year, for the past 25 years, the Monks have happily gained at least ½
a stone each on a 4 day jaunt to sunny Devon. Many Cream teas and
rationed amounts of lemonade have contributed towards this expansion of
the waistline along with late night kebabs and hearty cooked breakfasts!
Oh yeah and don’t forget the cricket! Our tour is held at the end
of the season and consists of four games:
Sidmouth
(Thurs)
An amazing ground surrounded by castle ramparts dropping onto the rocks
by the sea and with the Pavilion and Scorebox having thatched roofing
it is a quaint place to play cricket in this little seaside town. There
is a fine for hitting any person on the surrounding Croquet lawns!

Exmouth (Friday)
Again this large ground is right on the Sea Front where after the first
night of Tour and an early morning round of Golf the last thing you want
is to be running 3’s and 4’s while batting and chasing leather
after a South African professional!!
Sidbury
(Sat)
Sidbury is a relatively new fixture. Tipton were unable to accommodate us
later in September thanks to our extra league games, and after 25 years
of their hospitality this is sad. However Sidbury is described as
“Tipton 2 – The Revenge of the Living Dead” in the Devon
Yearbook.

Tiverton
(Sun)
This game is on the way home to Wales and is set on the edge of a
country estate, so bring your wellies with you to avoid the sheep s**t!
