John Moore

Right Arm Off Spin / Right Hand Bat / Groundsman

Jack of all trades master of all, JM is one of the major driving forces behind Pentyrch off the field.  His playing career has come to something of a standstill over the last few seasons due to the increased amount of league cricket being played on Sundays but he will still dust down the whites and send a couple of floaters down should the occasion demand.  John is the proud owner of the worlds oldest kitbag as well as the worlds oldest Groundsman's assistant.

Steve Lewis

Right Hand Bat / Chairman of Selectors

An avid fan of The Arsenal Steve has brought down the curtain on an illustrious league career following a freak fielding incident in 2004 whilst on tour with another club.  Not being the type to milk an injury, Steve started complaining of several other ailments in order to avoid the humiliation of being the first person to retire from the game due to a broken nail.  Now a key member of the supporters club and chairman of selectors Steve will follow Pentyrch over hill and dale, as long as they are playing at home.  Never the most optimistic he was once described as “being born 43 and miserable” Steve has a competitive streak in him that is now channelled on the golf course with other retirees and the walking wounded.

Peter Edwards

Right Hand Bat / Head Coach

In 1963 Peter was bought his first pair of Adidas shorts and, although a little snug, he still wears them proudly today.  A slip fielder without peer Ted retired from the game in 2001 to concentrate on his other interests which include watching cricket, coaching cricket and setting cricket related quizzes.  An avid music fan, Ted knows the words to every song ever recorded and is the musical guru behind any social held at the club.  Ted is largely responsible for the re-organisation and structuring of the clubs junior section which continues to go from strength to strength.

Colin Watson

Right Hand Bat / Assistant Groundsman

Our league representative, scorer and clubs record run accumulator Colin is a club legend.  Colin’s’ specialised shot during his playing career was “the running dab” and together with The Doc was one half of a formidable opening partnership that served Pentyrch well for years.  By complete contrast to a welcoming handshake from JM, Colin historically treats new club members to a telling off and a job to do.  Took over the scoring duties in 2004 from Stan “Le Harv” Harvey and has yet to see the first over of any match that he has scored.  During the winter months Colin likes to mend fences and paint things white.

Nigel Roberts

Right Hand Bat / Glamorgan Sponsor

Nigel is Steve Lewis’ nemesis.  Golfing warriors, their fairway tussles are not for the faint hearted.  A former captain of both 1st XI & 2nd XI Nigel is one of the best underarm throwers this side of the English Channel.  Nigel was an opening batsman full of nudges and nurdles and, every so often, an explosive cover drive.  Memorably failed to get to the ground for the toss of a single coin while captain of the 2nds’ in 2002 though encouragingly his handicap dropped 3 shots that same summer.
